National Seashore edge of Cape Cod – a park with 3030 acres, allotted an act of Congress in 1961 to preserve and protect a unique geological area and habitat of wild New England life.
Cape Cod is located approximately 60 miles south of Boston, Massachusetts. It was formed when the last glaciers, which visited the region melted about 12,000 years ago, leaving a large lake. Due to the special features and materials that surround the glacial lake, the water flowed, exposing the sediment and deposits left by the glaciers from earlier times.
With the rise in sea level and protected from the bustle of the ocean, secured George Bank, nature began to change all of Cape Cod, especially the Atlantic region, roadside National Seashore area.
Cape inexorable formation continues today. But this is a place to escape. This is the place where you can experience nature.
So, let us work together to make a short trip to Cape Cod vacation. Are you ready?
Beach nausea …
The first stop on your journey – it is Nauset Beach in the town of Orleans.
Entrance to Nauset beach is located in East Orleans at the end of Beach Road, where there is a large parking lot. The path is about 2 miles from Route 6 / 6A. During the summer months you will be charged for use of the lot.
Security – is the name of the game in the nausea is not just for the dunes, but also for the birds that nest in the spring. Always pay close attention to the erosion of beaches and protection of birds' nests somewhere while relaxing on Cape Cod. Listening to the signs, which means that the next time you visit the area may still be here.
At the entrance of the beach and turn left and walk northor take south walk by turning right. Both walks offer breathtaking views of the Cape even many residents have not found. Put time on the walk, so you go on the open sand bars on the North walk or dry crossed to the island to the south of honor.
Summer beach with nausea is very popular among tourists, but always seem to have a place even in the most stressful times. Swimming is good – but stay close to the shore. This is the Atlantic Ocean, so it will be a little more abruptly than in Cape Cod Bay party or beach Nantucket Sound.
National Center for visitors to the seaside … Eastham
Visitor Center in Istameme salt pond – it's your next rest stop on Cape Cod. He will orient you to the park, and also offers short films, a museum, and free maps for hiking and cycling trails.
remark: Building salt pond visitors center is closed for repairs since 2003. Due to the recovery in 2005 – in fact, right now!
Starting from the visitor center, it is a short and easy 1-mile loop Marsh Nauset Marsh, which is on the path of the reservoir salons and the Swamp of vodka before returning to the visitor center. This varied terrain salt marsh grass, Juniper and bath scrubsand a great place for bird watching due to its proximity swamp.
Salt Pond – a glacial kettle that was once freshwater but the ocean is leakage through it.
The beaches of the lighthouse …
Two beautiful beaches to visit in the Eastham area – this is the beach Coast Guard Beach and Nauset Light.
The beach is the Coast Guard can be reached by bike from the bike route from the Visitor Center salt pond, or in a car with Nauset Road off Route 6 directly after the Visitor Center – just follow the signs to the lot on Doane Road. This beach – my favorite walk ebbAnd was the area where Henry Beston wrote The uppermost house. Sadly the blizzard in 1978 washed the cottage where he lived at the time of this writing – the sea.
Another example of the amazing forces constantly skulptuyuts National Seashore shore of Cape Cod.
But here's one precious stone beach for you …
By the Seaside Nausea can be reached from Brackett Road also off the road 6, then cableway and Drive from the ocean. Parking lot is small and fills quickly in the summer.
Near the beach is Lighthouse Boredom. Originally built in Chatham in the late 19th century, it was moved here shortly and moved again in 1996 when erosion of the cliff threatened to destroy the lighthouse.
The beach is popular for imposition and towering cliffs and clean snow-whiteand walks that create memorable vacations on Cape Cod.
Great hike to the island in Velflit …
Hike on the Big Island in Velflit – a 6-mile hike, so allow yourself at least half a day to consider this lovely area.
Located on the shore of the Cape Cape Cod Cape in Velfleet, go on the trail of Shekeset Shake Road and prepare for yourself – and picture – for a spectacular hike. The area is quite open, so bring your sunscreen hat.
What do you see?
Great views of the harbor Velflit and Cape Cod Bay await you once on the island (hint: It is not really an island).
Another hint: This is a real trip into the countryside. there is no sandwich bar or coke machine We are waiting for you at the end, so take your own snacks and drinks. Of all the paths in the seaside park Cape Cod, this is probably the most remote – and I like it!
On the island used to be a secluded Tavern, which was used Kitaboly and the like. Today from it there is nothing left except the sign to mark the spot where it was.
National Center for visitors to the Maritime Provinces …
The visitor center is located in the province of Landes route 6 and on Race Point Road. This is the northern edge of the park and is our last stop together in this traveler on Cape Cod.
In the heart of the visitors is an observation deck, where you can see an ocean environment, woodand everywhere towering dunes. The area includes two swimming beach – Race Point and Herring Cove – a bike trail and walking trail. There is also a wonderful lighthouse at Race Point.
Bike Path – is a complex loop length of 5.25 miles, which can start from the visitor center. I would call it an undulating bordering on hilly.
There are also a large number of turns to the studs, and so helmets and a safe speed are required. Believe me, the train down the mountain so concerned about, but you can easily remember and correctly assume movement on the bike, which goes in the other direction. I saw a lot of tangled mess – Oh!
And the end of this short trip.
Wow! You have done a lot in a few minutes – from his chair. But now it's time to do the real thing. Are you ready?
